Anyen Rinpoche’s nephew Sonam Senge is an accomplished thangka painter trained in a unique traditional style. This style is taught in Tibet by one lineage of thangka painters. What is most unique to this style is that Sonam Senge mixes natural mineral powders to create the beautiful colors that he uses on his thangka paintings rather than using any pre-mixed or synthetic paints.
We are able to order custom thangka paintings for you at a lower cost because we assist you in creating your thangka order, and then request to have it painted to your specifications from Sonam Sengye. The entire cost of each thangka is used for supplies, shipping, and to support Sonam Sengye.
Pricing for thangkas is as follows:
A thangka of a principal deity or Buddha, the painting measuring 15x25 (which comes to 25x45 with the brocade) will cost approximately $400 including the painting itself, the silken brocade, and shipping from Tibet with the current exchange rate. Please see the examples on this page to see some of Sonam Senge’s work. When you contact us, you will need to let us know what deity or Buddha you would like on the thankga.
Adding additional deities or gold detail to a thangka will cost extra, and we will be able to give you a price if you let us know how you would like the thangka done. We can also request a larger or smaller thangka. Please email us with such requests to obtain the price or for more information at
